Project Title: Student Attitudes and Performance in Data-Related Courses
Principal Investigator: Dr. Nicole Calma-Roddin, Assistant Professor of Behavioral Sciences
Co-Investigator: Dr. Colleen P. Kirk, Associate Professor of Marketing
The purpose of this study is to assess students' attitudes towards and understanding of data, statistics, and/or research methods.
If you decide to participate in this survey, you will be asked to answer some questions related to your attitudes and knowledge about data, statistics, and related topics. Your responses on this survey will not count towards any course grade. This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Participants who complete both surveys in this study (this one and one you will receive at the end of the semester) will have a chance to win one of three $50 Amazon giftcards. More details will be given in the second survey. Please complete this survey by 9/20/23 to remain eligible.
There are no expected risks to you as a result of you being in this study.
CONFIDENTIALITY
● We will take steps to help make sure that all the information we get about you is kept confidential. We will ask for your name and email address to allow us to contact you with another survey around the end of the semester and to link together your information.
● Your name and email address will be deleted from the data at the end of the study. We will replace this information with a code instead. Your name and email address will not be included in the analysis or in any presentation of this project.
● Research records and data will be stored and maintained by New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) software under license from Vanderbilt University. REDCap is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. At NYIT, REDCap is installed on-premises on a web server located behind a firewall augmented by an Intrusion Preventions System (IPS). The Institute's REDCap database is stored and maintained on a different server with additional firewall protections. Access to the web and database servers is restricted to the NYIT Information Technology Department System Administration staff and to select members of the support staff of NYIT's College of Osteopathic Medicine. All reasonable efforts have been and will be made to keep your personal information confidential. However, total confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
